History: Ottawa Police Service Pipe Band
The Ross tartan is worn by the Ottawa Police Service Pipe Band in honour of Roderick Ross, the first Chief Constable of Bytown, now known as Ottawa. The band has been wearing Red Ross since 1969, when the Mayor of Ottawa went through an approval process for the tartan with the British High Commission.
In 2003, a new website was established for the band.

Note: There is a new CD out with music from the Pipe Bands of the Ottawa Police & the RCMP. It also includes the Band of the Ceremonial Guard (the Brass/Reed band that plays on Parliament Hill during the summer months for the Changing of the Guard). The CDs are $20.00 and 25% of the profits are donated to the Big Brothers of Canada.
