Any info regards ancestry of Charles G. Ross, born 1794 in Kingcraig, Invernesshire, son of Charles Ross and Christena Munro. Charles G. married Isabella Mainville, born 1807. He began service with the Hudson's Bay Company in April 1818, serving at posts across Canada until Spring 1843 when he went to Vancouver Island to take charge of the building of Fort Victoria as its first Chief Trader. He died June 27, 1844 at Fort Victoria and is buried in the old H.B.C. cemetery, named after him.

Mark Ross of Alberta is looking for relatives in Nova Scotia. His great-grandfather, George Ross, and his grandfather, Mark Percy Ross, both arrived in Alberta in the 1920's from around Kentville, N.S. Mark married Violet Elizabeth Dunlop and they spent most of their married lives in Bowden and Innisfail, Alberta. It is believed that Mark Percy, and possibly George, worked in the Cape Breton coal mines before moving west.

Seeking info re: my 3g-grandfather, Donald Ross, born circa 1760 (died May 8, 1841) married (November 1773) Ann Morris, born circa 1775 to Richard Morris and Bridget Griffiths. Donald was granted land in 1790 near Guysborough, Nova Scotia, as a Loyalist. Land was part of the Hubbell Grant, so Donald must have been in Duke of Cumberland/Lord Montague's Regiment. His son, John Ross, married Elizabeth Bears. John's son, John Henry Ross, was born in 1836 and settled near Rock Island, Illinois, and married Hester Roberts.

Looking for info on my ancestor, John Ross, who came from Scotland in 1759 to join the 78th Fraser Regiment to fight on the Plains of Abraham. He later settled in Maskinonge, Quebec, and married Marie Louise St. Cerney. His second son William was born in 1768.

Looking for family history of Dr. Alex Milton Ross of Toronto. He was born in Belleville, Ontario, December 13, 1832, and died in Detroit on October 27, 1897. He was a world famous Canadian scientist and abolitionist, who wore more foreign decorations than any other Canadian. My great-grandmother was Eliza Ross (1840-1891), also born in Belleville. I believe the family was from Nova Scotia. The two may have been brother and sister.

Colin Brown of North Devon, England, is looking for relatives. His mother, Elizabeth Allen Thomson Ross, was born in Achiemore, Durness, Sutherland, in 1913, one of 9 children of William Ross (sheep farm manager) and Jane MacKay, who are buried in Balnakiel Churchyard, Durness. Colin's great-grandfather was Donald Ross, died July 27, 1928, whose wife was Ellen MacKay, died December 14, 1918. He understands his 4X great grandfather was Rob Donne MacKay, the Gaelic bard admired by Sir Walter Scott.

Does anyone know the names of parents or other relatives of Wm. F. Ross, b 1826 or 27, likely New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was married there in 1854 to Catherine Fraser, who was buried in Riverside Cemetary in New Glasgow. Wm. F. was a joiner (carpenter) and later (1892-94) was Pipe Major in Bridgeville, Pictou County, where he died in 1895.

Attempting to track parents and siblings of Arthur Malcolm Ross, born 1864 in London, Ontario, Canada and died October 11, 1922 in Washington, D.C. USA. Married Lucy Mary Blodgett on Nov.12, 1888, possibly in Genessee County, New York. They lived in Denver, Colorado where two children were born: Mary Elizabeth in 1889 and William A. in 1891. Family was in Newark, New York per 1900 census. Mary Elizabeth married and became Mary Elizabeth Ross Newman, my grandmother.

Looking for relatives of Thomas Ker Ross, son of Daniel Ross and Jane Reid, born January 1, 1881, in Newton Mills, Nova Scotia, occupation: blacksmith. Around the time of the Highland Clearances (1807-1820's) one of my ancestors, Hugh Ross (born 1800 died 1897) emigrated to Pictou, Nova Scotia (sometime before 1836). I have letters to his brother Donald, dated between 1836-1844. I would like to hear from anyone who may be descended from this line from Ross-shire, Scotland.
